The 23-year-old actress chatted it up about working on the Baby Daddy set, staying away from a music career and meeting boyfriend Stephen Colletti. Check it:
On learning from co-star Melissa Peterman: “One person I learned a lot from is Melissa Peterman. She’s from Reba, she’s a brilliant comedic actress and it’s really fun to have someone like that around. She’s just so fast, quick and funny, you’re like ‘Wow, I have a lot to learn and a long way to go,’ but the other thing that’s fun is working with three boys. It’s such a chill environment. There’s no drama, no petty attitude.”
On leaving singing to singers: “I don’t consider myself a singer at all, there are so many super talented people out there I would feel bad releasing an album. I just do it if the character [I’m playing] calls for it. So if people think I suck it’s cause they made me do it.”
On boyfriend Stephen: “We met on a blind date, someone set us up and we were both very hesitant and tried to get out of it all day until finally meeting up. I guess our friends know us better than we know ourselves because we totally hit it off.”
We just want to wish a very special birthday to one of the sweetest and most gorgeous down to earth girls out there! Make sure to wish her happy birthday on her twitter, instagram, facebook, and even on here! Happy Birthday, Chelsea Kane Staub!

When it comes to actress Chelsea Kane, who currently stars on the ABC Family series Baby Daddy, her hairstyle is almost as famous as she is. In fact, there’s even a Pinterest board dedicated to the slight variations of her blonde, angled bob. Which is why it’s no surprise that when her character first walks into the room on the season four finale of Drop Dead Diva, Stacy Barrett (played by April Bowlby) exclaims, “I love your hair!”
In a recent interview with StayFamous.Net, Chelsea talked about her popular hairstyle and why she decided to guest star on the episode.
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “What’s the story behind why you chose to go with that look and are you surprised by the popularity of it?”
Chelsea Kane: “Yes, I was really surprised by the great comments and questions and copies that my haircut received. I cut it a few years back, mainly out of being hot, tired of long hair, and I had definitely fallen victim to the LA look – long beach blonde hair, lots of extensions.
And to be honest with you, I just got really tired of it and really tired of the hours put in getting ready for work in the morning. I’d have to spend an extra – about an extra hour in the makeup chair. So, I decided to just cut it all off and I love it.
I don’t know if I could ever go back to long hair again and I’m so flattered that the girls like it and the guys like it too.”
In her guest-starring role, Chelsea plays Grammy Award-winner Paige McBride, a singer-songwriter who is being sued by an ex because the lyrics to her song “Who’s Broken Now?” may have influenced an obsessed fan (played by Kelly Osbourne) to commit a crime. The episode airs Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
Michael Aaron Gallagher: “Why did you decide to take on this role?”
Chelsea Kane: “When I first heard about the character, I just thought how much fun did that sound? To first of all play a country star, and I’m sure my dad (who’s a big country fanatic) will love it… I wanted to do something totally different and I had never played a character like that. And also, I loved that she was kind of a nice pop star. You know, here she is getting caught up in this mess when she’s already heartbroken and I just thought that was a fun way to take it… I feel like ‘pop star, movie star’ roles out there for young blonde girls are usually pretty mean and conniving, so I like that this girl has a heart and she just kind of got caught up in a bad situation. So, that’s what really drew me to the project.
Plus, you know, to be shooting in Atlanta and there were some other guest stars on the show that I was excited about. Kelly Osbourne plays my biggest fan, which is hysterical to me because I’m such a fan of her. So, that was a very surreal moment. And Ethan Embry was also on the episode, even though we didn’t have any scenes together. I grew up watching all of his movies and, it was fun to see him in the hotel restaurant at the end of the night. So, it was all the way around just a great experience for me.”
Drop Dead Diva airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
It’s official — “Baby Daddy” is returning for a second season!
Throughout the first season, the show received a lot of great reactions from viewers. It was even named the No. 1 new comedy series in cable for females 12-34 and 18-34!
I know I’ve shared this before, but I truly love working everyone on the show, so much that even when we’re not on set, we still end up hanging out together. How many people get to say that they love what they do every day? I feel really fortunate and can’t wait to see what’s in store for season 2, coming in Spring 2012. Stay tuned!
What do you think will happen in the second season?
